Sri Lankan food stories and Healthy recipes for you

My story

Cooking with love!

What I like the most is COOKING! I like to cook when I’m hungry or happy or sad or curious. etc, etc. I still remember the moment of making a “Sellam bath” for real (My first time cooking as a kid) with my friends next door. With the two new clay pots received from my mother, we made Rice and Greenbean-Potato Curry. Since then, I officially started cooking. Having said that, there were times I actually didn’t get a chance to step into the kitchen on a regular basis, until I started living by myself.

Apart from cooking, I am a BIG FOODIE! My mother has a bloodline of creating yummy foods where I find some unforgettable flavors on her own like Seeni Sambol Toast, Halmesso Hodi, Polos, Spicy French Toast, Aluwa, and many more. Being a foodie with a big sweet tooth, I have added some pounds during my school time. But, when I moved for higher education, I started missing my mother’s tasty food and decided to continue my food journey again. Eventually, I started exploring healthy food and a lifestyle. Not only I learned how to cut off unhealthy foods, but also I learned how to balance my budget, which I believe goes hand in hand with cooking. To be honest, it was really challenging. Luckily, by now I have connected to my body and understood how to tame my cravings and enjoy a balanced lifestyle, which I’m going to share with you as well.

I got ample opportunities to learn and research more about food on campus and it became a turning point in my life. Through this journey, I realized, apart from cooking I love PHOTOGRAPHY and VIDEOGRAPHY! Initially, I was not into Food Photography. I started taking travel and animal pictures and selfies and videos! Ha Ha Ha!! After some time I clicked pictures of what I was eating while traveling. Trust me, I have hundreds of pictures and videos hiding behind my phone memory.

Moving to Canada is another turning point in my food journey, where I get to learn about Food Nutrition and try different food cultures, and experiment with tons of available ingredients. Being in a new country was quite challenging for us. And then hits the Pandemic! where my working hours got expanded intensively with a short working week. Like everyone else, we were a little bit lost and started trying new food recipes and pandemic trends and posting on IG. There I developed my passion for Food Photography.

Through Instagram, I have connected to an amazing community and was able to bring out the creative person in me. One of the best things that happened was, I motivated people to try new food and eat healthy and homemade foods as much as possible. So, here I’m writing my biography in the middle of the night to begin another journey with you!! Hope to have an amazing time with lots of cooking, experimenting, sharing, and love!!

Passion Turned Into A Profession…
